Breakfast

I love breakfast. I have a picture of myself at Grandma Betty's table one morning, fried eggs and toast. Yum. When mom would buy a box of Corn Pops it was all I could do to get to sleep at night, only to be able to get right up the next morning and have a bowl of those Corn Pops. I am still that excited today when I bring home the box of Corn Pops, except there's no waiting until the next morning.

Truth in Advertising

Here is a can of newly opened Cheetos crunchy. Can you believe it? They sell this big container of snacks and that's all that was in there. The front does say 4.75 oz, this is the biggest misleading in packaging of a product and a waste of packaging. Shame on you FritoLay.

First Strawberries

Here in Michigan, these are the first of the locally grown strawberries of the season. They are spectacular.

Mmmmmm....food...

My mom's new husband thinks my kids and I are food obsessed. I tell you what, you try to live out here in the rural county of Livingston and not want for a better place to eat at. We were visiting them over Easter break and apparently, as we drove around we would acknowledge restaurants and stores we had seen advertising for but had never seen or visited in person. Sonic, Whataburger, In and Out Burger, AJ's Grocery, ah....the list goes on and on. They have access to anything their hearts desire. Back at our home, we have the usual, bland and boring Wendy's, BK and Mickey Ds. B-O-R-I-N-G!

Bloggeriffic

Hello, my name is Patti and I'm a blogaholic....I have spent the last couple weeks reading blog after blog after blog. Blogs from all parts of the world and some parts of the universe. I tend to like the cooking, penny pinching, coupon clipping, frugal living, book reading, latte drinking type of blogs but have ventured off onto the unknown. Have you ever clicked on the next blog tab located on the top of this page? Go ahead, give it a go, it's quite the looksie.

Road Trip

The dog was looking a bit worried today. I think he senses we are leaving on vacay in a week and when we leave it's hell week for him in this house alone. Last year, we hired the neighbor boy to come in, feed and water and then play with him in the yard. He wanted no part of that. He hid in his cage and barked incessantly until the boy left. His parents tried to come and calm him down to no avail. Today, I suggested to DH that he take the dog with him on his business trip. It's looking like DH and his little dog are going away together on business. People will be talking about this big man traveling with his little dog but the dog will be so much happier.

Yes, Chef!

He's going to be a chef, he just doesn't know it yet. Last night, he made those delicious 7 layer cookie bars. PERFECTION in every bite. He is building quite the repertoire with his cooking. He'll be a chef or at the very least very popular with hungry roomates.

Sweet Tea

McDonald's now has sweet tea on the menu in Michigan! Do you know how hard it is to find real sweet tea up here? You can order iced tea just about everywhere but it comes unsweetened and adding your own sweetener at the table is not the same. To make real sweet tea you need to sweeten the tea when it's hot so the sugar dissolves. I just wish the ice was crushed and not the cubes but hey, one step at a time.

The next best thing to being clever is being able to quote some one who is. - Mary Pettibone Poole

Some of my favorite book or movie quotes:

"Fiction-a true story of what never happened."

"No mere human can stand in a fire and not be consumed."

"We all have our reasons for loving things the way we do..."

"Get the stink knocked off ya."

"Boy, she had a face on her like a bucket of worms."

"Fortune smiles at some and laughs at others."

"Life, it makes sense when viewed backwards. Too bad we have to live it forward."

"I didn't go thru 3rd grade for nothing, worse 9 years of my life."

"If there's a God, he plays favorites and I'm not one of them."

"Enough binky and pigtails for the day."

"I've got trophies to win, I've got medals to claim, I've got titles to keep, And miles to go before I sleep."

"How do I know where I'm going until I know where I came from?"

"Who you set out to be is not always who you become."

"I think diamonds posess magical qualities."

A Mother's Influence

There is little I like more than a good, old fashioned, romantic "chick flick". And I think it's rubbing off on my DS15. Last night, he wrote his very first song. To the tune of "House of the Rising Sun", he sang, "There is a girl named Katie, they call her RoseBud...." It is chock full of puppy love and humor, dare I say this Katie is one very lucky girl? Maybe I can upload him singing it. It's adorable.

Speed

The cops had someone pulled over this morning as I was leaving the driveway. I live in a school zone and dang, we wish these people would slow down. 25 mph folks! Set your cruise control.

The libray was closed. I dropped the books in the after hours box. Am trying to keep track of the number of books I read this year. 20 days it took me to finish my first book of the year, The Reading Group by Elizabeth Noble. It was good, all the fluff and girly stuff I enjoy but it just seemed to take the longest time to read. I've got to speed it up, can't possibly read 300 books by year's end at this rate. The next book I opened, Cocktails for Three by Madeline Wickham, felt familiar, omg, have already read this one. That's what I get for picking books by their covers. I so like a pretty cover and this one had yummy cocktails on the front. So am going to try to read Backstage with Julia: My Years with Julia Child by Nancy Verde Barr. It has a pretty Tiffany blue striped cover.

Breakfast.

McDonalds in Brighton: drive thru. One plain English Muffin toasted with Grape Jam and a medium Orange Drink. Delicious.
